The Chatbot Showcase Field

All eleven chatbot presentations.

Eleven chatbots reached the showcase floor. They are the Chatbot Division's share of the eighteen solutions presented that day — the other seven were multimedia pieces, and belong to a companion edition.

These eleven are distinct from the twenty-six Agile Pods the programme began with. Pods consolidated into teams as the build progressed, which is why the two numbers differ and why both are correct.

Two things in that table look like errors and are not. Two chatbots were built for the National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA) — W.E.S and Aquasist — and two for Grenada's National Insurance Scheme (NIS), NISA and NISSI. Different teams, different territories, the same client brief approached twice. Reading them side by side is one of the more instructive things this book offers.

Banking, two ways

Two teams built for banks, and arrived somewhere quite different.

CUB-VA, built by AI Dominators in Dominica for the Caribbean Union Bank (CUB), was framed commercially. Its hook persona is Dawn Roberts, a forty-six-year-old equipment-rental owner who cannot afford forty minutes on hold. In the live demonstration it parsed managing my shares and a business loan in a single breath, distinguishing term loans from commercial lines of credit. It offered hands-free voice-to-voice, one-tap tools for branch hours, calculators and an ATM locator, English, French and Spanish, and a high-contrast mode. Its security invariant was stated plainly: it will never request, store or reveal confidential banking credentials — no account numbers, no passwords, no balance figures. Pressed by Dr Farrell, the team conceded that early edge cases had produced generic model answers, and that the fix was ingesting CUB's own policy circulars. Sessions do not persist.

The ACBAssist, from ACBAI, was framed for retail and after hours — like having a personal banker in your pocket 24/7, then instant, intuitive, and available before the branch even opens its doors, with no nested menus. It demonstrated an authenticated greeting, an instant lost-card freeze that acted rather than explaining, native Spanish, French, Dutch and Mandarin, and mortgage triage that pre-qualifies before routing to an advisor. On logging, the team was straightforward: the pipeline is designed, the dashboard is not yet live.

One team built for the entrepreneur. The other built for the customer at eleven at night. Both were reading the same industry.
